Ever since I was a little girl, I have always imagined having a winter wedding and if you’re reading this you probably share this dream too! I would picture myself wrapped in a fur stole with some sort of magnificent backdrop complete with dramatic scenery arriving at the ceremony with my future husband-to-be in a horse-drawn carriage. Now that I’m a little older and more (budget conscious) I don’t know that the horse drawn carriage appeals to me quite as much, but I am a sucker for the majesty that is a breathtaking landmark. If you’ve ever dreamed of tying the knot in a historic Library look no further than the enchanting Boston Public Library located in Copley Square. The cathedral ceilings alone will add a unique sophistication and wonder as your guests sit down for the reception. Think about all the possibilities for lighting and sparkle as you enter for the first time as Mr. & Mrs.
Cairnwood Estate- Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania
Ok, Maybe I’m a little partial to a castle landscape for a winter wedding. My fiancé and I had the pleasure of seeing the “awe-inspiring” Cairnwood Estate in person last year, so this list would not be complete without showing you just how gorgeous this castle is! If you’re looking for a more intimate setting for guests around 50 then you have the entire first level with many historical rooms to have your guests saunter through, most with its own fireplace. I could imagine having a lux Christmas or New Years wedding here and dancing the night away on the heated terrace over-looking the Philadelphia Skyline. While you’re there make sure to stop by the immaculate Cathedral Church located on site for your ceremony.
Grouse Mountain Lodge- Whitefish, Montana
If this isn’t what winter wedding dreams are made of I don’t know what is! When you’re planning a winter destination wedding have your friends and family travel for the trip of a lifetime and stay at the Grouse Mountain Lodge. You’ll find this not-so secret gem located in Whitefish, Montana showcasing natures majesty in Glacier Park. You’ll have 9 Banquet rooms to choose from depending on your guest count with plenty of lodging at this luxurious Winter Wonderland. Montana is a dream wedding destination, book this venue to take everyone’s breath away!
Double Diamond X Ranch- Cody, Wyoming
We simply cannot give you a winter wedding destination list to take your breath away without including the beautiful state of Wyoming. If you ‘re looking for a most Rustic setting with snow capped mountains this is your venue. You’ll find that the accommodations listed on their website are “a la Carte” which can be really nice so you’re not locked into any one vendor. That’s when things become ultra pricey. I can appreciate the creative freedom to plan your own wedding using recommended local vendors. If you and your future hubby are whiskey enthusiasts this is the place I would pick for an unforgettable winter wedding.
Knot & Pine- Alpine, Utah
This lodge retreat in Alpine, Utah gives you the charm of a rustic industrial farm setting juxtaposed with elegance in their opulent cathedral style reception barn. Upon booking a tour for Knot and Pine you will be pleasantly surprised to learn they are a full service venue making the coordination leading up to and on your wedding day simple and organized. The barn was originally used as a forge, leading you through detailed traces of superior craftsmanship with heavy, oversized doors, hand-crafted hardware and furnishings for your guests to marvel over.
Hardy Farm- Fryeburg, Maine
Where are my sophisticated, timeless brides looking for the perfect winter wedding scape? If you’re thinking of a dreamy winter paradise do yourself a favor and check out Hardy farm located in Fryeburg, Maine. You’ll be entranced when you see the whitewashed corridors and expansive windows to let in the mystifying, cool winter brightness. Ever imagine a frozen lake glistening under the stars while you dance the night away with your beloved? Well maybe Steel Hill resorts located in the beautiful New Hampshire Lakes region is for you!. I have to leave you with one more option for Colorado, and I’ll be honest it was hard to pick just two venues. This state has so much natural beauty that it doesn’t take much to plan your dream winter wedding here. This one in particular may just be my favorite which is why I’ve left it for last on my list of top venues guaranteed to take your breath away. You will feel like an absolute storybook princess at the Della terra Mountain Chateau. Their indoor ballroom is nothing short of stunning adorned with balconies, grand architecture and floor to ceiling windows capturing panoramic views of the mountains.The Chateau showcases fourteen luxury suites each with its own fireplace, hot tub and balcony. Oh and they even offer a complimentary honeymoon suite and four additional suites for your bridal party with your venue booking. This is your sign to schedule a tour, just prepare to be absolutely dazzled.
As a future bride myself, I can’t help but find that the United States has so many gems to explore and consider for my own wedding. So many historical venues in quaint Towns that take pride in their history and dreamscapes, it is almost sad to have to narrow it down to just one venue of a lifetime. If you are on the fence about traveling for your wedding just take a few days to really consider taking the plunge to some of these enchanting venues and you just may make your wedding day the talk of the town for the next decade!
